Finally finished Godric!

I was a bit worried how 'Gandalfy' he looked, but I had to put the Sorting Hat on his head, so there ya go. :~\

ARGH! Kids harrassing me to get on the comp!! ARGH!

I think that's a great picture, Kate! I love the sword and the hat :D

Thanks, liss! :~D

Loffly, dear. I love how the hilt of the sword is squishing into his cheek. It's a nice touch. He looks like a very warm, welcoming sort. The plaits in his hair are cool too.

Glad you like it! I'll admit I have a thing for men with long red hair and a beard. Yum. ;~)
27th-Oct-2004 01:32 am (UTC)
I don't think he looks Gandalfy at all ... and it's awesome. Love the expression on his face as well as all the little detail ... and the red Weasley hair. *grins*

I had to give him red hair. And ginger beard. :~) I couldn't imagine Godric with anything else.

Aww so c00te! :D

How long has your icon blinked!

How long has your icon blinked!

*grins* Only since last night. And, yes, I am inordinately pleased with myself over it! :~D

Glad you like Godric!

*grin* I love it! The expression on his face is so how I can see the founder of Griffindor to be looking!

Iconage squee!!!

Thanks! XD

I love the background you've chosen, and that mischievous look on his face. The coloring is really wonderfully done. The light and shadow picking up the veins on his hands, the folds of his robes... One of the things I like best about your Godric is the way you incorporated those braids into his hair - a hint of Viking, perhaps?

As with all of your art, it's beautiful. Great job Kate!

Glad you liked it! The background is common for all the cards - have a look here hp_art_deck - and was made by one of the other artists. It is really lovely, I agree. I used it on the Ron Weasley I did for this set too. http://www.livejournal.com/users/leelastarsky/26183.html

Ooooh, lovely. He looks medieval enough for me to expect him to start speaking in Anglo-Saxon. Like the veins on his hands, makes me wonder why he is grabbing his sword so tightly.
27th-Oct-2004 05:22 am (UTC)
Thanks! I'm so pleased he looks right for the time period he's supposed to be set in. :~)
27th-Oct-2004 04:52 am (UTC)
The coloring is beautiful, and the little details like the veins in his hands, etc. are incredible.
27th-Oct-2004 05:31 am (UTC)
Thanks! :~)

thats just cool. Your work reminds me of the Pern. There was a book I once ow-d and ah-d over and I believe it was called "The People of the Pern." So this IS A MAJOR compliment. I like your works though because I'm more familiar with the characters. Very cool.
27th-Oct-2004 05:34 am (UTC)
Thanks! Was this the Pern as in 'Dragonriders of Pern'?
We never saw any illustrated books from that series here. :~(

Eeee! I love that icon; I have Mucha posters all over my house. :~)
27th-Oct-2004 06:20 am (UTC)
I don't think he looks Gandalfy. Although, he is reminding me of a certain comedian, whose name I can't recall right now. 0.0

I like how you gave him red hair, green eyes and braids. It sort of covertly links him to main characters. ^^ The details in this are so attractive! His hair, the lines about his eyes, the veins in his hands!!! The sword is making me long for my own. *sniff* And the fade into parchment is a nice touch. Sort of majestic and mysterious. While Godric himself looks honest and inviting. Gotta love the contrast!
27th-Oct-2004 06:30 am (UTC)
Gosh, thankyou! What a nice detailed review!
Glad you liked him. :~D
27th-Oct-2004 06:44 am (UTC)

This is amazing work!! The shading, the detail, the features, the wrinkles around his eyes, the sword, his hair!!! GUH!!! You are a fantastic artist! I salute you!!! *bows*
28th-Oct-2004 12:19 am (UTC)
*blushes* Thanks! :~)
27th-Oct-2004 06:47 am (UTC)
Oh my- I really like this- especially the details on his hands- I love the veins! and his hair/facial hair is so realistic! How on earth do you do that?
28th-Oct-2004 12:26 am (UTC)
Um, I don't know. ;~P I just do.
Glad you liked it though! :~)
27th-Oct-2004 08:25 am (UTC)

Very nice. And great use of the sword and hat!

Spike, a Gryffindor?? Do you think so? Will have to go away and consider that one. ;~)
27th-Oct-2004 10:15 am (UTC)
He is very cool - actually he reminds me of a cross between Gimli and Gandalf and since I love them both very much, that is a compliment! Great job!
28th-Oct-2004 12:33 am (UTC)
Well, thanks. And I agree, he does look like a bit of a cross between them. ;~)
27th-Oct-2004 10:59 am (UTC)
absolutely beautiful!!!!
28th-Oct-2004 12:31 am (UTC)
