Han&Leia art!
26th-Jan-2006 04:50 pm
Owl totem
This was commissioned by may_child

An older Han&Leia based on Harrison and Carrie as they look now. :~) (with a little artistic licence taken to smooth out some of Harrison's lesser wrinkles. ;~) )

Photoshop all the way. ;~)

On a completely different note, I just wanted to add that it's 40 freaking degrees again and it's completely and utterly UNCIVILISED!!

Just beautiful, Leela. Your Leia here very closely resembles current-day Carrie in build and facial features. SOOO nice. Shelley is a lucky gal.

Thanks, Sue! Shelley gave me a pic of Harrison and Carrie, which was relatively recent, that she wanted it modelled on. I think she's posted a link to it further down in the comments. :~)

I love this!

I really like the idea of them growing old together - and so beautifully.

I like your icon. I've always been fond of that particular Han/Leia kiss (although I've noticed that Han/Leia fans tend to overlook it); it's so cute, and sweet, how he picks her up and swings her around.

Thanks, Linda! Leia's hair was particularly fun to do. :~)

Another beautiful piece of work...but then again, I would never expect anything less from you. Great job, Leela!

Nice :) I always enjoy seeing Star Wars pics, especially tender scenes like this;

Still, on another note, now all we need is a family scene... preferably the one where Jacen informs them that they're grandparents... :D

I don't know what Leela's view on the EU is, but I don't personally consider it to be a genuine continuation of SW. So as far as I'm concerned, there is no Jacen.

I definitely see Han and Leia having a few kids -- and I see them naming a son Bail, not Anakin. That never sat well with me; Bail raised Leia and was her father in every way that mattered. And I never liked the idea of them having twins, nor that all of their kids turning out to be SuperJedi. I would like to see at least one of their kids not be Force-sensitive.

Well, as may_child paid for this painting, any sort of copies would have to be through her. ;~)
Glad you liked it, Johanna. :~)

So very, very beautiful! Thank you, Leela!

I love the detail in Leia's dress and hair. And setting it on Coruscant -- perfect!!

My all time favourite movie couple. So lovely. You do an amazing job in showing gentle emotion and the affection in your pictures, and the years together comes through beautifully, I still note an impish element on Leia's face though! :D And I just have to gawp...just *gawp*...at the level of detail on her dress and hair absolutely awesome Leela.

Oh, WOW, that's just gorgeous! The detail in the hair style and the dress - and the sparkly shawl...

I'm also quite fascinated by the wedding ring on Leia's hand, as well. Everything's so beautiful!

Thanks, Sreya! It's wonderful to hear that the little details are appreciated. :~)

This is beautiful! I love the green lighting, and Leia's hairstyle—that must have taking a lot of work! It's kind of Padmé-esque :D Actually, the pic also made me think of Aral and Cordelia from the Vorkosigan series. I think it's the elaborateness and deep colours of the clothing.Mmm, Han looks good in velvet...
27th-Jan-2006 12:31 am (UTC)
I definitely had Padme's wardrobe in mind while I was painting Leia's! But, when I came to Han, I knew he would draw the line at anything too fancy. ;~)

awww!!! old people! lol.k... that is nice!
27th-Jan-2006 12:34 am (UTC)
Glad you liked it despite the...old people. ;~\

This is absolutely stunning! You've captured them both perfectly, and I can't gawp enough about the utter detail you've put in! I adore Leia's hair (*wants the hair accessory*) and you can see the fabric! And Han...still dashing after all these years, and Leia still sparkly eyed. You can feel the love between them and that it's only gotten stronger.

Excellen piece!

The art is based on this photograph, taken at the 2002 BAFTA awards where Lucas was honored:

When I saw the photo, I thought that it would be a great inspiration for "Han/Leia as an older, married couple" art. Of course, Harrison and Carrie aren't a married couple in real life, but they are extremely good friends and quite fond of each other.

As you may notice, in the photo, Harrison isn't looking at Carrie's eyes, so I asked Leela to "fix" that in the art. :-)
